My Girl, My World

imageThe love of a daddy for his little girl is one that is truly unimaginable!  As much as one could hope to understand it, it can’t be, until experienced. I thought I knew what it would be like, I had no clue!  The moment I laid eyes on my beautifully created baby girl, my heart was overwhelmed with love. Read More

The good Lord knew just what I needed when he gave me you! You keep us laughing and your sweet prayers and love for Jesus keep us focused on Christ! You’re the first to say, “Wait!!! We forgot to pray!” Thank you girl for being awesome! The only one who could ever love you more than mommy and daddy…is King Jesus! Happy birthday! Love you!!!!

Indy here we come!

I love flying my girls!!

Indianapolis trip – July 2023

We had an amazing weekend thanks to your momma! She planned the perfect trip! Our room was an old rail car at Union Station and we all thought it was pretty awesome. I love seeing the excitement on your faces.

We went to the Indianapolis Children’s Museum. Amelia’s favorites were the dinosaurs and the sports area. Audrey loved the sports area too and really slowed down in the section about children who made a difference. We talked about Anne Frank and you were really broken-hearted when we were talking about Ryan White. You were so hurt by the way he was treated at the beginning and the troubles that he faced. One of the things about you that I love the most is your heart and how you care about others. There is not much in life that is more important than the way you treat others. I pray that as you continue to grow, you will always remember how important it is to show the love of Christ to everyone. No matter who they are.

Our first baseball game. Indianapolis Indians

I considered our first baseball game a hit even tho it was a minor league team. One thing I realized tho is that neither of you have really ever been around alcohol. it started with wanting a icee and we found out all the icees were actually margaritas. I had to explain why you weren’t allowed to have one and then that opened up a lot of questions from you(Audrey). All of a sudden, you realized that there were a lot of people that were drinking and you couldn’t believe it lol. There was a young girl, probably in her early 20s sitting next to us and you were shocked that she had a “beer”. I love your innocence and daddy was trying to find the right words to explain the dangers of alcohol without condoning or judging the young lady. T

The Bible is clear on alcohol. Ephesians 5:18 clearly says “Do not get drunk” and there’s a whole host of other scriptures that warn about the dangers of alcohol. (Proverbs 20:1, Galatians 5:19-21, Romans 13:13, and many more). I know right now, you wouldn’t even know what “drunk” means and I’m so thankful for that. But at the same time, there is a day coming that you will face this temptation and I pray that the Lord helps me to guide you and teach you to make the best decisions when those days come. We’ll talk more about this as you get older and I’m sure there’ll be another blog post or two for you both to read someday. But for now, your ages 6 and 9 and I’m not gonna let myself start worrying or thinking about those things just yet🤪.

The ZOO!!!! We added another zoo to our list and y’all had a blast. From the dolphin experience in the splash zone to the butterflies, to feeding the flamingos and then topping it off with dipping dots and icees and face paint. I believe we made the best of the day!

And I’ll leave this right here about the trip home! I love my girls!!!

Daddy may or may not have ripped one in the airplane!😂🤘

I couldn’t be prouder…Part 2

Amelia,

Girl, you have the biggest personality and you always keep us laughing. I love your silliness and couldn’t be prouder of you too! You’re in the middle of iReady testing right now and we just got the results back on your reading portion of the test. WOW!!!! You’re in kindergarten but your reading scores were on a 3rd grade level! Way to go girl!! We’ve been amazed at how well you are reading but those test scores show how hard you work on it. You love to read and now you’re reading to me instead of me reading to you!

Im so proud of you girl. Reading at a 3rd grade level is awesome and I’m really proud of you for that but it’s not the main thing. Im proud of your determination, your hard work, the effort you put into everything. You have read every book in the house multiple times. When you were younger you had some of them memorized and you would pretend to read😂. But now, there’s no pretending. Im often amazed at the words you can pronounce. Keep it up girl!

This is Ariel and Sebastian, from CHS Little Mermaid performance. You acted like you’d met the most famous people in the world😂❤️! You blushed and grinned when you got to talk to them at Audrey’s piano recital!

Couldn’t be more proud…

Audrey,

This past weekend, you competed in the Kentucky State Gymnastics competition and I couldn’t have been more proud of you! You gave your best and you cheered for your teammates like you were cheering for yourself. You were just as excited for Grace and your friends. That’s what made me even prouder of you! I can’t remember which event Grace got first place but I watched you smile from ear to ear for her and give her the biggest hug! You had so much joy for her.

A very important lesson in life is to celebrate other people’s accomplishments, to truly be happy for them. Keep being you Audrey because your mom and dad know that You are Awesome!!

Now, I’ll brag on you. You got First place on the trampoline, First place on the double mini, and Third place on your floor routine! That is amazing!!!! You have worked so hard and you have come so far!! The sky is the limit for you! What’s funny is your dad is learning more about these gymnastics competitions but I still don’t know much about how the scoring works. But, when I watched your trampoline performance, it looked perfect and I knew you had a chance to win. The same thing with the double mini. You stuck your landings perfect and I knew it was really really good. Way to go girl!

You are unbelievably talented and I know that you can accomplish anything you put your mind to. While I want time to slow down and savor these moments, I can’t wait to see all the things you accomplish in your life. Remember, always put God first, celebrate and cheer for others, and always give your best effort. You’ll win some and you’ll lose some, but as long as you give your best…that’s what matters most. I couldn’t have been prouder of you this weekend for the character you shown even if you had been in last place. Winning was just a little icing on the cake. Love you girl! Your daddy is so proud!

Watch your coach at the end😁❤️

But I can’t stop there…WOW…your piano recital! You were amazing again. Another proof that when you put your mind to it you can do anything. In such a short time, you’ve learned so much. You’re so talented! Your taking piano lessons now from my elementary school librarian, Mrs. Vance (Arnold). You have advanced really quickly even though you don’t practice as much as you should😉😂. I love you girl. Keep it up! You’re gonna do big things!

Where’s my tooth?!?

That tooth has been hanging on for a couple weeks now. We were at the Party Palace for a bday party of one of Audrey’s friends. You were climbing up one of the inflatable slides when someone else came down and managed to hit you right in the mouth. You immediately looked at me with tears in your eyes…but then…you noticed something in your mouth. You spit it out on the inflatable because you weren’t sure what it was at first😂. But then you realized, “My tooth!!” Your tears were immediately replaced with a beaming, toothless smile!! You are the sweetest little girl tho because within minutes you were worried that your mommy wasn’t there to witness it. Your momma was bound and determined to be there for your first tooth because Audrey had lost hers at school. She’s been at everything, every time, every where, but unfortunately she wasn’t feeling well so she laid down on the couch to rest while we went to the party. I thought it was pretty amazing how much you cared about your mommas feelings. You are an amazing sweet beautiful little girl. Daddy is proud of you! And mommy is too!!!

I’ll add…the tooth fairy didn’t have any change so your first tooth paid a whopping 20 bucks…don’t get used to it!😂. Love you!

Merry Christmas 2022

Hey girls! This was one of the best Christmas seasons I’ve ever had. Audrey’s piano recital, looking at Christmas lights, school parties, Lila the Elf, the Christmas play at church, sledding, and family time!! It was a great Christmas!! I love you two and your beautiful momma!! My heart is so full!

Audrey, your piano recital was wonderful. You played perfect but I was just as proud of you for being so brave! Getting up in front of all those people is a really big deal. And you made it look so effortless! And you looked beautiful in your recital dress. You played “Up on the Rooftop” and your teacher played a duet with you. It was so good!

We had so much fun with Lila the Elf. She’s a lot of work but the joy in your eyes and the giggles in the morning make it all worth it. You both love when Lila leaves you a scavenger hunt. It’s like a race to find the clues but at the same time y’all are so sweet to each other and if one of you finds Lila first, you let the other find her before telling where she was. I’m so proud of you both. When I watch the two of you play with each other and laugh, it makes me so happy!

There’s been so much to write about as usual. Y’all were in the Christmas play and it was awesome. One of the best Christmas plays I’ve ever watched. You both did so good!

Let’s Go Sledding!!!

And family time!

I love you girls more than I know how to say! I pray that your lives would rooted in Christ and that you glorify him in all that you do. Nobody’s perfect but golly you two girls and your momma has to be as close as it gets. Be kind! Be a great friend! Love big! Forgive quick! And just keep being awesome! Love you!

Oh what a night! Tonight, I was All In!

What a night indeed! Time really slowed down for an evening and we made the best of it!! You performed, you giggled and laughed, you tickle fought! I beamed with pride (maybe even had a tear building in my eye), overwhelmed with thankfulness, and tickle fought too!! Tonight, time stopped for a little bit. I basked in the giggles while acting silly and brushing your teeth. I wasn’t in a hurry.

Tonight, you both put on the most amazing interpretive dance performance I have ever seen. I watched intently as you closely watched me to make sure I didn’t look away or look at my phone. You knew you had 110% of my attention. Tonight time stopped, nothing on my mind but 2 amazing little girls.

Amelia, you were amazing. You danced with passion, you were all in. There were moments that I held back laughter because of an intense facial expression. My heart overflowed with joy, pride, and thankfulness. I fought tears at times because I was recording all this in my head. I recognized the importance of the moment we were in. I celebrated and praised Jesus while watching the sweetest face grin back at me when she could tell I was proud. I ooh’ed and awe’d. You were amazing.

Audrey, and then you got up. You knew you had to raise the bar because you just watched your daddy fall even deeper in love with a little 5 year old girl. So you stepped onto the mat and entered your first position for the dance! You waited for the music to start. And so did I, it seemed like forever because time had stopped. There was no one in that room but you and me…well and Amelia but even she knew this was Audrey’s time! You danced with the most beautiful smile and thought out every interpretive move. You intertwined interpretative dance, ballet, tumbling, and gymnastics like I had never seen before. I was lost in this moment watching you. I gushed with pride. And you knew that you had just stolen another piece of my heart. So much so that as soon as the song was over and your performance complete, you gave me the greatest hug! You were amazing.

I seriously soaked in every moment. I thanked Jesus for his unspeakable blessings in my life. I celebrated and prayed. Even while my eyes were locked on you both, I thanked Jesus for you two! I thanked Him for your beautiful mama who wasn’t feeling the best and trying to get a break on the couch. I mean that’s what allowed me to take 100% control of tonight’s bedtime routine. I help bedtime routine every night, but tonight…I was Super Girl Dad. There was no shame in my game because tonight I was All In celebrating being a daddy to two awesome girls. I even celebrated the fact that we were doing girl things, dancing to girl songs, having fun in who God created us to be. Two beautiful little girls who were fearfully and wonderfully made. And One daddy who didn’t care if anyone was watching.

Audrey…Amelia… You were fearfully and wonderfully made by a Creator who knew you before you were even born. He created you on purpose and for purpose! He has a plan for your life!

In todays time, it seems that so many people are living without Truth in their lives. I can’t imagine the difficulties and the pressures you two girls will face. The world is trying to camouflage sin as normal, acceptable, and even glorified. Your mom and I were just talking about a Netflix show we were watching, and liked, had lesbian scene in it. We were both like “why did they have to put that in there!?!” You are going to face so much pressure to fold to the idea that everyone has there own truth…well don’t do it. Read this letter, know how much your Daddy loves you. Remember you were created in the image of God, you’re a child of the King, remember Christ and his sufferings. Remember there is truth. Jesus says he is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Truth is Jesus loves you and just like he designed you to dance, laugh, sing and snuggle tonight with you’re daddy. You’re still designed in his image today. He created you to Abide in Him, experience joy unspeakable, peace unexplainable, to be adventurous, determined, be proud but humbled, to have FUN!! He created you to be You, a woman of Faith, who stands firm in the faith.

I’m not sure why I’m writing all this tonight, but time stood still tonight for daddy and his two beautiful daughters. As we laid in bed reading a story, you both snuggled tight, I smiled. Y’all think I’m gonna slip out when you fall asleep so you both hold on tight. Amelia, at one point you climbed on top of me. I’m loving every minute. After a few minutes of arm tickles and snuggles, I pretend that I’m asleep to see what y’all will do because I know your both awake. After a couple s’mores, Amelia you pretend to snore. I almost laughed out loud. I wasn’t in a hurry to go anywhere tonight because tonight, time stopped and I was All In with you two!

I love you both more than you’ll ever know! And as much as I think that is God loves you even infinitely more than that!

Love, Daddy

Kindergartener flies an airplane!

Enjoying a daddy daughter afternoon! Audrey was getting to do something with mamaw me and you were going to make the best of the afternoon.

We flew to Somerset, ate at Mellow Mushroom, grabbed some Baskin Robins, and then you flew us home. You followed the power lines from Somerset to London and I literally never touched the stick. I’m amazed at how well you can fly when you can’t even see out of the front window. Proud of you!
